Asko Dishwashers, Washers & Dryers -update

After I wrote my last post about my experience with my Asko dishwasher, I was immediately contacted by Brittany Musacchio who wrote:
Phil – I ran across your post regarding ASKO dishwashers. Can you please tell me what model you are having this issue with, as well as the year installed. I would like to help change your perception of ASKO customer service.

I sent her the information and my address, but it is now three months later and I still have not received the part.

Additionally, I also asked her for a dish rack wheel which was missing from the Asko dishwasher when it was delivered.  Some time after purchasing the dishwasher (it could’ve been a year or two) I called Asko to request a new plastic wheel.  Instead of offering to send me one for free, they wanted to sell me 10 of them for $17.48.

It doesn’t matter if it’s 15 years later.  It’s a very small plastic part which can’t possibly cost them more than five cents.  Companies like Moen or American Standard are more than happy to send a faucet repair kit for free.  These repair kits have more parts and are more expensive to manufacture than one plastic wheel.  Additionally, of faucets range in price from $35-$75 while the Asko dishwasher is approximately $1,500.

Service is an important part of quality.  I cannot say that I’ve received good service from Asko and while they wanted to change my mind, they apparently forgot about me.  Hopefully articles like this on the Internet will make companies produce better products and provide better service.
